Corinthia Hotel London’s summertime Afternoon Tea transformed into a menu of childhood memories

LONDON, England - Corinthia Hotel London’s New Head Pastry Chef, Sarah Barber, has created an Afternoon Tea designed to transport adults back in time to taste the "top draw treats" of their younger years. Bursting with color and rich flavors, this Childhood Memories Afternoon Tea will have you playing “tag” or “hopscotch” under the famous baccarat chandelier of The Lobby Lounge.

“I love the way that when you bite into something all these memories come flooding back from when you were younger. These fancies are based on my favorite tastes when I was growing up in Rochester, Kent. I used to sit for hours watching my grandfather cooking and then he would take me down to the local shop in Greenwich and buy me a treat,” said Sarah Barber.

Barber joined the Corinthia London team in June 2015 and has worked for some of London’s top hotels and establishments including ME Hotel London, Yauatcha, Dinner by Heston Blummental in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, The Ritz, and The Connaught.  With over 18 years’ experience her style is simple yet playful and Sarah is due to launch her first book, “Patisserie Perfection,” which will be sold at the hotel.

Childhood Memories Afternoon Tea will be served in The Lobby Lounge until August 31 and is priced from £50 (approximately US$78).

Flashback flavors will reminiscent of summers playing in the grass or rewards for good behavior.  Desserts in the menu include:

Peanut mousse, tanariva, and aerated salted caramel

Jaffa Cake
Chocolate orange pave, ganache, and mandarin jam

Macaroon covered in hundreds and thousands

Crunchy Toffee Cream
Hazelnut dacquoise with toffee biskalla mousse, and sugared crispy candy

Chocolate cherry gateaux, Kirsch Chantilly, and kirsch cherries

Rose Choquette
Raspberry lychee cremeux, rose choux bun, and crystalized roses

Strawberries and Cream
Wild strawberry mousseline with lemon curd and confit
