Hundreds of professional tourist guides from all continents will descend on the Golden City of Prague this coming January. As attendees of the 16th World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations' (WFTGA) International Convention, they are expecting the usual best in educational workshops, top-notch tours conducted by licensed local tourist guides, insider visits to principle historical sites - in other words: "the royal treatment."
Hosts of WFTGA's biennial conventions have always delivered
the "royal treatment," but the Czech Association of Tourist Guides
will be hosting the WFTGA's January 26 - 30, 2015 convention and they have
something special up their sleeves - interaction with Aristocracy!
Guests at the "Central Europe - The Historical
Crossroad of Cultures" themed convention will tour exhibits at the
Lobkowicz Palace just as many tourists do, but the WFTGA group will be served
High Tea at the Palace - and meet their host, Prince William Lobkowicz.
The Prince will also speak at the convention's opening
ceremonies and attend the final night Gala, where tourist guides from Russia,
Europe, Canada, US, Asia, Africa, UK, the Caribbean and scores of other nations
will be decked out in their native dress.
Prince William's history reads like the script for a Royal
Reality Show, but his real-life experiences need no media embellishment. His
family was forced to flee the country twice, with properties confiscated first
by Nazis and later by Communists. Prince William grew up in the USA and
returned to the Czech Republic when the country became free. The family has
rehabilitated several properties into museums and is passionately dedicated to
preserving Czech culture and heritage.
An Early Bird discount applies to everyone who registers no
later than 20 September. Professional Tourist Guides, tourism authorities and
tourism industry partners are all welcome to register for the convention at http://www.wftga2015.org .
WFTGA is a not-for-profit NGO, a working partner with UNESCO
and Affiliate Member of UNWTO. WFTGA trains Tourist Guides and Tourist-guide
Trainers worldwide according to international standards.
