QUITO, Ecuador- The World Travel Awards (WTA) are the most
important tourism awards across the globe, referred to as the “Oscars” of the
tourism industry. This year on August 9th the award ceremony was held in
Ecuador at the incredible Centro Cultural Itchimbia in Quito, where Tren
Crucero won first place and was named the “Best Luxury Train in South America.”
At the ceremony Ecuador showcased its best tourism products
that are now recognized around the world, including Tren Crucero. This train
allows passengers to enjoy special four-day, three-night routes surrounded by
amazing and diverse landscapes that are not reached by other methods of
transport in Ecuador.
Tren Crucero won by a huge majority vote, which was opened
from April 14th to June 23rd of this year. The support of local Ecuadorians and
international travelers helped Tren Crucero gain the victory of two international
awards in only the first year of operation. The first award was won in November
2013, when it was named the “Best Touristic Product Outside Europe” at the
British Guild of Travel Writers Awards, and now the “Best Luxury Train in South
America” at the World Travel Awards, which will put it in the running to win
best in the world at the World Travel Awards Grand Finale in November of this
year.
