Utah Mountain Adventures Backcountry Ski/splitboard Clinic At Alta Lodge

Utah Mountain Adventures and Alta Lodge are offering two winter backcountry clinics in the Wasatch Mountains. The clinics will be based at Alta Lodge, located at the base of Alta Ski Resort. The clinics bring skiers and splitboarders into the backcountry to learn and practice skills during three days of touring.  After each day in the backcountry, clinic participants will return to the warmth, comfort and fine dining of Alta Lodge.

Safe travel while in the backcountry is a must, and this course teaches the fundamentals during three full days of backcountry touring. Guests learn avalanche awareness, beacon rescue, safe route selection, efficient skinning on skis and split boards, and downhill technique, while experiencing legendary Utah backcountry touring.  Guide to client ratio is 1:3. Participants may bring their own backcountry gear or coordinate rentals through Utah Mountain Adventures.  Ski routes are dependent on weather and snow conditions.

The clinic includes: three days ski guiding, four nights of lodging in a standard room, full breakfast and four-course dinner daily, and box lunches on backcountry days; yoga is also included in the March clinic. The all-inclusive package rate for the January clinic is $1,976 per person, double occupancy, or $2,574 for single.  The March clinic is $2,091 per person, double occupancy, or $2,689 for single, and includes five yoga sessions. Other accommodations are also available.  Taxes and Lodge service charge are included.
