- Summertime in South Walton on Northwest Florida's Coast means warm summer days, perfect for basking in the sun while enjoying any of the destination's 16 beach neighborhoods – such as Rosemary Beach, Sandestin and Seaside. The summer season is also synonymous with great fun and entertainment, from sporting events and concerts to fishing tournaments and movies under the stars.
Thrill seekers, amateur athletes and professionals alike can look forward to the Sandestin Triathlon. Now in its 27th year, the triathlon will lure hundreds of athletes to South Walton for a half-mile swim in the Gulf of Mexico, a 20-mile bike ride along the coast and a four-mile run. The triathlon takes place August 24.
If the call of ocean air is really your style, South Walton is home to the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic. One of the fastest-growing billfishing tournaments on Florida's Gulf Coast, the event returns to Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort June 19-23 with live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and of course, plenty of billfish action.
Music lovers can get in the groove all summer long during the Seaside Summer Concert Series hosted at the Seaside Amphitheater and the Wednesday Night Concert Series at the Village of Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin.
