Goa Tourism sponsors 3-day bus tour, river cruise for Wardha orphans
Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) in association with Indiatourism, Government of India, Goa sponsored a three-day bus tour and a river cruise in Goa at a concessional rate for around 100 school children in the age group of 9 to 12 years along with their teachers from Anand Niketan school in Sevagram, Wardha in Maharashtra from April 30 to May 2, 2013.
Anant Prem Group organized this picnic to Goa for orphaned children and those who come from a poor background and would not have a chance to witness the beauty of Goa. As part of the programme, the children were taken for a cruise on the Mandovi river on GTDC’s Shantadurga boat at a concessional rate.
The village of Sevagram is located in the interiors of Maharashtra. The aim of this tour was to provide these children with an opportunity to see a different part of the country.
Mr Sanjay V P Chodnekar, General Manager of GTDC said that Goa Tourism extends its support to these special children and welcome them to experience the beauty of Goa.
Mr Jitendra Jadhav, Assistant Director, Indiatourism, Government of India, Goa said he was thankful to GTDC for sponsoring this trip for the students.
The three-day itinerary included a visit to the Science Centre at Miramar, the Ambedkar Garden, World heritage monument – Basilica of Bom Jesus Church at Old Goa, Fort Aguada at Sinquerim, INS Hansa – an Indian Naval air station near Dabolim, Big Foot, Loutolim, and the Mangueshi temple in Ponda.
The programme also included visits to the Bogmalo, Dona Paula, and Calangute beaches. The highlight of the tour was of course the Shantadurga river cruise that the children enjoyed immensely.
