Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau releases new mobile apps
The Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau announced the release of a new mobile app available for mobile devices running Apple and Android operating systems.
The new app allows travelers to have access to all the information available on their website, such as lodging, dining and activities, in Yosemite National Park and surrounding southern gateway of Madera County, even if they are in an area with limited to no data service.
“A guest can download the free app at the start of their vacation and have the wealth of information our internet site provides at their fingertips throughout their entire journey. It truly is very helpful,” said Rhonda Salisbury who oversaw the project.
The apps also allow guests to plan their itinerary and can use their current location to show them what lodging, dining, attractions and activities are nearby.
“The idea is to help guests both plan ahead of time or travel on the fly, letting them know of the almost countless options they have to choose,” said Salisbury.
The app was created by the company MobiManage, a company known for their mobile applications and websites.
“They were excellent to work with,” Salisbury said.
“They were helpful, delivered what they promised when they promised and worked within the framework of our restrictive budget to produce something we are proud of,” she said.
The apps are accompanied by a mobile version of the website, also produced by MobiManage, as part of the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau’s strategy of utilizing technology to stay at the forefront of marketing trends.
“A large percentage of web traffic is coming from mobile devices. If you don’t embrace this and accommodate for it, you will lose customers,” she said.
The apps were funded through a cooperative agreement with Yosemite National Park to help Yosemite travelers know what there is to see and do in the gateway.
The apps can be found by going to the Apple App Store or on Google Play by searching “Visit Yosemite National Park by MobiManage”.
