Ventura County Lodging Association Unveils VenturaCountyWest Commercial

The Ventura County Lodging Association (VCLA), a Tourism Business Improvement District that promotes lodging and attractions in the cities of Camarillo, Oxnard and Ventura (known as VenturaCountyWest), will be running its first commercials to promote the area.

The radio and television spots will air beginning in April in the greater Los Angeles area, Bakersfield and online. Stations include Time-Warner Cable channels, KNBC-TV, KABC-AM-790 and KEARTH-101 in Los Angeles and KNZR-AM, KUZZ-FM and KERO-TV in Bakersfield.

The television commercial was filmed at the historic Camarillo Ranch House, Main Street in Ventura, along the bike path near the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach and at the Ventura Harbor. In Oxnard, the television commercial captures the joy of a bride on the beach, joggers along the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Hotel and Resort beachfront and a fisherman casting his line by the shore. Oxnard's River Ridge serves as the location to highlight the area's five championship public golf courses.

The 30-second TV commercial features the song "Life is Beautiful" by three-time Grammy Award winner Keb' Mo'. "It seems like the lyrics were written just for VenturaCountyWest," says Bill Hamilton, CEO of theAgency, a full-service advertising agency in Camarillo that created the spot. "The commercial gives people a sense of what it feels like to be here, why it's so different and special. It also reinforces the idea that the energy generated by the three cities is bigger and more exciting when combined."
"VCLA was formed in 2011. Our marketing campaign, 'VenturaCountyWest, Inspiring Choices,' was created less than a year ago. Since then, we've been very successful in attracting visitors to the area who might have otherwise gone elsewhere," says Victor Dollar, general manager, Four Points by Sheraton at Ventura Harbor and VCLA chair.
