Pegasus Connection Helps Dertour and JacTravel Lift Sales

An XML connection via the Pegasus global distribution system (GDS) between Dertour, one of Germany’s largest travel businesses, and JacTravel, the UK-based wholesaler best known for its range of hand-picked, city centre hotels, has led to an immediate increase in bookings for both companies.

A direct link was established in December whereby Dertour’s staff became able to search and book JacTravel’s inventory of over 7,000 city centre hotels. As a consequence business has jumped by 25% year on year and the trend looks set to continue for the foreseeable future.

Frank Götze, Dertour’s Vice President City Breaks & Events, said: “I am very pleased things have started so well.  JacTravel’s inventory has enabled us to improve our offer in city centres by way of access to a portfolio of properties deliberately selected for their location and value for money.  The fact that JacTravel has very long standing relationships with most of them adds greatly to our sense of confidence.”

In the past three to four years, JacTravel has made impressive progress. From 2009 to 2012, JacTravel grew its sales 80% from £70m to £125m.  During this time, it also created 28 new jobs and it is planning to add another 25 this year.  As a consequence, it has picked up several awards and accolades.  In 2012, JacTravel was UKInbound’s Tour Operator of the Year; it won the Sunday Times Profit Track 100 Award for Customer Service and it has featured in several highly-regarded rankings of fast-growing businesses.
