Orchards Hotel Employees Recognized by Massachusetts Lodging Association as Stars of the Industr

The Massachusetts lodging industry came together at the Colonnade Hotel on Friday, February 15, 2013 to honor exemplary employees and unique programs in the industry, at the 2012 Stars of the Industry Awards Gala.  Mitchell Emery and Chris Bonnivier, both of The Orchards Hotel, were recognized by the Massachusetts Lodging Association (MLA) as Stars of the Industry.

"Once again, we had an exceptional pool of nominees to choose from," said Paul J. Sacco, President & CEO of the Massachusetts Lodging Association.  "Both Chris Bonnivier and Mitch Emery consistently go above and beyond their normal position responsibilities.  They provide outstanding service to their property, their guests and to the community in which they serve."

Chef Chris is the Executive Chef of Gala Steakhouse & Bistro at the Orchards Hotel in Williiamstown, MA.  He was awarded the MLA's Outstanding Manager of the Year, an award that recognizes exceptional performance by a supervisory employee to their subordinates, to guests and to the community.

Under his leadership, Chef Chris' efforts have helped lead the Orchards Hotel and Hay Creek Hospitality to success in 2012 with property awards of AAA 4 Diamond Award, WeddingWires' Brides Choice Award, and Trip Advisor's Certificate of Excellence.

Front Office Manager Mitchell Emery was awarded the Stevan Porter Emerging Hospitality Leader of the Year Award by the MLA.  This award honors the accomplishments of Stevan Porter, the late president of the Americas for the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). This award honors an exemplary lodging employee who has demonstrated superior professional dedication, leadership, and a fresh perspective to their job.

"As the Front Office Manger of the Orchards Hotel, Mitch Emery embodies the spirit of true hospitality," said Bernie English.  "Mitch started at the Orchards in 2007 as a guest service representative. His drive for outstanding customer service and desire to make our guests' stay extra ordinary led him into the supervisory position in 2011. In 2012, Mitchell was promoted to Front Office Manager, in order to lead his team and the Orchards Hotel into receiving AAA Four Diamond Rating and Trip Advisor's Award to Excellence."

Chef Bonnivier is a career culinary expert, having received his formal training at Johnson & Wales University, Providence RI, and then escalating into high level kitchen positions in France's acclaimed "Moulinde Mougins Restaurant" and also at some of the finest hotels and restaurants in the United States. Prior to joining the Orchards, Chef Bonnivier was the Faculty House Chef of Williams College.

Mitch Emery began his career in the hospitality industry in 2003 at the Jae's Inn, North Adams starting in the rooms division working both the front desk and housekeeping departments. In 2004, Mitch accepted a front desk/housekeeping position with the Williams Inn, and in the spring of 2008, Mitch joined The Orchards and Hay Creek Hotels
