Mom Tri’s restaurants favorite with Phuket King’s Cup winners!

Mom Tri’s Boathouse, directly on Kata Beach Phuket and a sponsor of the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta for more than a decade, was honored to be chosen as the venue of choice for many yachtsmen.

As in past years, the German sailing team helmed by Jacob Handte returned to the Boathouse to compete in the King’s Cup, this time sailing on Sunsail yacht Princess Isabella. As one crew member mentioned, “Friends since many years, we always thoroughly enjoy our yearly sailing trip and like to spend time together relaxing on the Boathouse’s beach.” This year’s excellent wind conditions and the crew’s considerable success were an added bonus.

Other regular Boathouse visitors, Princess Christina Skipper Nick Rose and his team, beat Isabella by 2 points in the final results and ended up over-all 3rd prize winners in the Sunsail One Design class.

Ray Roberts, skipper of Quantum Racing, this year’s winner of the prestigious King’s Cup Trophy, was often found at Mom Tri’s with his family or crew.

Mom Tri’s Boathouse was the place of choice of Quantum Racing’s crew for a sunset cocktail on Wednesday December 3 when gaining victory was still a mere possibility. Scoring wins in both Boathouse races on December 5 brought the Phuket King’s Cup closer within reach.

On the party lay-day, while visiting PIMEX, Asia’s biggest boat show, Ray dropped in for dinner at the just that day soft-opened Mom Tri’s Boathouse Regatta restaurant overlooking the boardwalk of the Royal Phuket Marina.

When Quantum’s eagerly-anticipated triumph was confirmed after the final day’s racing, the elated crew had a celebratory lunch at Mom Tri’s Oasis.

Mom Tri’s Kitchen, at the Boathouse’s sister hotel Villa Royale, provided the perfect spot for a relaxing romantic dinner for some of the crew after the busy week of champagne sailing and regatta awards parties.

Mom Tri’s Boathouse located in Phuket, Thailand is a creation of famous Thai architect, entrepreneur, and artist Mom Luang Tridhosyuth Devakul, better known as “Mom Tri.” Built in 1989, it quickly became a favorite with discriminating visitors and appears on numerous lists of the world’s best small hotels.
