National Geographic Traveler Magazine has designated MIR Corporation's “Georgia & Armenia: Mountains & Monasteries” as a "Tour of a Lifetime" in its May-June 2008 issue. With a maximum of 12 travelers, the trip is a journey into the spiritual, natural, architectural and culinary heritage of the spectacular Trans-Caucasus region.
On this active journey, MIR leads travelers deep into the mountainous countries of Georgia and Armenia, rich with fruitful slopes, saw-toothed peaks and unexpected treasures. River-cut canyons, magnificent cave towns, and fortress towers of stacked stone are all visible features of the stunning landscape of these little-visited countries. Yerevan and Tbilisi, their sophisticated capital cities, have excellent museums, and beautiful medieval churches and monasteries for adventurous travelers to explore.
MIR’s 20+ years of dedication to person-to-person cultural connection means that travelers on this journey get more than just a guided tour. They meet and interact with local people, staying overnight in village homes in spectacular, steep-sided valleys and hiking in the remote Svaneti region, with its medieval watchtowers. Three nights of the tour are spent in private homestays in Georgia, allowing travelers to become immersed in the culture and hospitality that Georgia is known for. Dinners are eaten at the homestays, and are comprised of traditional Georgian cuisine.
“Georgia & Armenia: Mountains & Monasteries” starts at $4,295 for 15 days. For more information, contact MIR Corporation at 800-424-7289 or 206-624-7289, visit http://www.mircorp.com or e-mail Charity at charity@mircorp.com.
