Tel Aviv Tourist Association Launches New Web Site Featuring Resources and Information for American Travelers

eTN

The Association for Tourism for the city of Tel Aviv-Jaffa has unveiled its new Web site specifically designed for tourists from the United States, Visit TLV (http://www.visit-tlv.co.il/usa).

The new all-English multimedia Web site serves as a one-stop information center for travelers looking to make their trip to the Mediterranean metropolis memorable.

Visit TLV consists of 14 sections that make it easy for visitors to find the information they need. Most sections contain a brief overall description of the attractions and resources presented and a link to reputable Web sites and online databases. A few sections contain all the information right within the Web site, while others serve as a portal to the relevant resource.

For example, The "Hotels" section takes prospective travelers directly to the Web site of the Tel Aviv Hotel Association so that they can locate hotels in specific parts of the city, learn about any special deals that are available and plot routes via an online street map.

On the other hand, the "Art" section contains videos and general descriptions of Tel Aviv's role as a major hub of Israeli cultural life. Different subsections allow visitors to explore specific cultural institutions and activities by providing links to a variety of other Web sites with information on museums and galleries, theater, opera, dance and the philharmonic orchestra. The section serves as an all-inclusive starting point for obtaining information on admission times and fees, locations and current programs.

In addition, the site's "Nightlife" section links to an online database of parties, movies, events and more while the "Wining & Dining" section directs visitors to a ready-made database results page that displays the different restaurants within the city, along with the telephone numbers, Web addresses and any available discount coupons. Visitors can also find lists of Tel Aviv's many beaches and free walking tours with English-speaking guides as well as information on the city's markets, historic districts, fashion centers, boutique stores and more.

For those interested in Tel Aviv-Jaffa's history, Visit TLV contains text and photos depicting the city's beginnings. They can also find background information on the distinctive Bauhaus architecture that earned Tel Aviv the title of "The White City" and made it one of the few modern locales to be designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

In addition to its institutional links, Visit TLV also includes a "Hug For You" section, which directs visitors to YouTube music videos featuring the popular "Free Hugs" campaign, a grassroots initiative in which a few city residents offer everyone free hugs at Rabbin Square. The YouTube videos' simple depiction of the populace's friendliness complements Visit TLV's own videos that supply a close-up view of the city's style and dynamism.
