Travel Agents to Boost Cruise Attraction

news.holidayhypermarket.co.uk

UK travel fans who have yet to dip their toes into the cruise market may soon find themselves persuaded.

Ocean Village has developed a training pack for agents to overcome key objections to cruising, with a CD-ROM of the company's latest ship supplied to "convert potential cruisers into bookers".

"Half the agents out there get what Ocean Village is all about but for the other half we have a stack of practical, hands-on info and advice to give agents an extra shot of confidence when first timers come through their shop door," the line's head of marketing communications, Gill Haynes, told TravelMole.

Intending to help new agents "get their foot in the cruising door", Ocean Village aims to dispel traditional myths and misconceptions associated with cruising.

"Newcomer couples and families are the lifeblood of Ocean Village and this pack explains why its informal Holidays have become so popular with them," added Gill Haynes.

First-time cruise passengers were recently targeted by Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) as it announced plans to introduce new ships to attract them.

According to the Passenger Shipping Association (PSA), the UK cruise industry has been growing every year.
