Rwanda: Cultural Tourism Could Bring in $31m

allafrica.com

Government here and the private sector are discussing how to exploit cultural tourism to earn US$31m by 2010.

The ministries in charge of culture and tourism last week brought together stakeholders to a consultative seminar to re-launch cultural tourism.

"We need to diversify our products so that if visitors come to Rwanda, they also see our culture," youth, sports and culture minister Mr. Joseph Habineza said.

The function was facilitated by the On The Frontier Group (OTF Group). The director general of Rwanda office of tourism and national parks (ORTPN) Ms. Rosette Chantal Rugamba called upon the private sector to take a lead role in attracting tourists.
