US Airways traffic down; airline leads in complaintsbizjournals.com US Airways Group's passenger traffic fell 1.5 percent in October.The airline, one of the busiest carriers at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, flew nearly 4.88 billion revenue passenger miles last month, down from 4.95 billion in September 2006. The carrier's passenger-load factor, or percentage of filled seats, was 80.5 percent, up from 77.2 percent in the year-ago period. Capacity fell 5.5 percent, to 6.06 billion available seat miles. In other developments, Arizona-based US Airways, which has its largest hub at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, had the highest percentage of consumer complaints of major U.S. airlines in September. The U.S. Department of Transportation reports that US Airways (NYSE: LCC) received 2.13 complaints for every 100,000 passengers. Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE: DAL) was next in line with 2.11 complaints per 100,000 passengers. Aloha Airlines of Hawaii scored the best, with no complaints during September. US Airways has 3,800 flights per day to more than 230 destinations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Caribbean and Latin America. |
