Hotel group warns of potential tourism downturn

belfasttelegraph.co.uk

One of Ireland's top hotel groups is warning of a potential downturn in the tourism sector unless the country loses its label as an expensive destination.

Dunne Group Hotels says a huge increase in the number of accommodation providers in recent years has not led to a drop in room rates.

It also says the continued weakening of the US dollar and strengthening of the euro, along with the emergence of cheaper holiday destinations, is leading to a decrease in the number of American visitors to Ireland.
