MDIS opens hospitality centre to meet tourism needs

channelnewsasia.com

The Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) – Singapore's oldest non-profit professional institute – has reaffirmed its commitment to lifelong learning with the launch of a new hospitality centre.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Swee Say officiated at the launch on Wednesday.

The centre was established to help meet the fast-growing travel and tourism industry needs, and graduates will be able to serve the two integrated resorts when they open in a few years' time.

The new centre, called 'Tropical Breeze', was set up at a cost of more than S$250,000.

Its Tourism, Travel and Hotel Management Programme will give students specialised and practical skills that are needed in the industry.

MDIS is also working with NTUC to help professionals who are switching to careers in hospitality.

The programme will help them acquire new skills and prepare them for new jobs.
