Denver-based airline to show World Series in the aircanadianpress.google.com Frontier Airlines will show the World Series on DirecTV offered on TVs on the backs of the seats on its planes. The Colorado Rockies clinched the National League pennant last week and begin the series against the AL champion Red Sox Wednesday in Boston. Denver-based Frontier offers satellite TV on flights, but its contract does not cover the Fox Network, requiring negotiations with DirecTV to get permission to show the World Series. "It has taken a lot of coordination and effort . . . to make this happen," Frontier spokesman Joe Hodas said Monday. "We're so appreciative that we'll be able to show the games to our passengers." Frontier, which has been arranging to show the Super Bowl on its flights, charges US$5 for its satellite-TV service that is available on 60 Airbus planes. JetBlue Airways Corp. will offer the World Series free of charge to passengers through its current DirecTV contract, company spokesman Bryan Baldwin said. |
