Seoul to Provide Tailored Tourism Service

koreatimes.co.kr

The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to provide foreign visitors here with tailor-made tourism services beginning next month.

The local government announced Wednesday that it will run 30 theme-based and 10 recommended tourism packages with interpretation services from October.

Tourists can choose a program in accordance with their interests and visit every corner of the capital.

The 30 theme-based packages include museum, Korean delicacy, Buddhist temple, performance and club party oriented programs.

The 10 recommended packages also consist of intriguing programs that help foreigners experience everyday Korean life such as traditional Korean markets.

In the programs, travelers will be accompanied with an interpreter/guide who has obtained a specialized interpretation license.

Tourists can make a reservation for the tailored tourism service by visiting the web site theme.visitseoul.net two days prior to the day they are set to visit Seoul.

Currently, English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean services are available to visitors.

``Through the program, foreign tourists can enjoy a tailor-made itinerary rather than ready-made travel schedules, which foreigners feel are somewhat long and tedious,'' a city official said.

It will cost 70,000 won for a four-hour interpretation and guide service and 120,000 won for an eight-hour service.
