Los Angeles Investors Interested in El Salvador

The Salvadoran Minister of Tourism, Ruben Rochi, met with tourism executives and journalists in the city of Los Angeles to present El Salvador's new image, its investment opportunities and the various attractions El Salvador has to offer.

Meetings were held with high-powered financial investors and representatives of the most important hospitality companies, such as Ernst & Young, the Burba Hotel chain, international tourism industry consultants PKF, executives from Vision Maker Worldwide (partners in El Salvador's Portopango project), and the law firm of Butler & Marmaro, which specializes in legal counsel for project developers and owners of large hotel chains throughout the world.


During the promotional tour, investors showed great interest in El Salvador upon viewing our presentation, which explained our country's strategic geographical position in the region, its economic stability for investors, competitiveness, the best road infrastructure in Central America, its leading telecommunications system, the tax incentives provided by the Tourism Law and the goals and objectives of its National Tourism Plan 2014.


Another important contact was established with the Travel Editor of The Los Angeles Times, Catherine Hamm, who expressed interest in publishing different articles in the newspaper regarding El Salvador's tourist attractions.


Rochi also met with a delegation from the Salvadoran community in Los Angeles, which expressed its appreciation for the promotion campaign carried out by El Salvador's Ministry of Tourism. A visit to Malibu Beach was also on the program to acquire first-hand knowledge of the surf market, one of the strategic tourism points the country is developing.


On Saturday, September 8, the Tourism Minister traveled to Las Vegas to attend The Trade Show at The Convention Center, one of the most important tourism expos in the U.S. Other meetings were held in the city with potential investors, who will be shown the same presentation given in Los Angeles.
