Mexicana and ASSA Reach AgreementeTN MEXICO CITY - Mexicana Airlines and the Flight Attendants Union (ASSA) today reached consensus on a salary increase to be included in the airline's 2007-2008 collective labor agreement with its flight attendants, who had threatened to strike action, effective the first minute of September 16.In an effort to maintain stable working conditions for its employees, Mexicana agreed to a salary increase of 5.03%, equivalent to the inflation rate plus one percentage point, which will come into force on September 16, 2007. The airline is currently undergoing a restructuring process in a bid to reduce operating costs and improve the financial viability of the company in today's highly competitive aviation market. Under these conditions, the agreement reached today with flight attendants implies a huge concession on the part of Mexicana. During the last salary revision, in the 2006-2007 period, no increase was granted. |
