American Eagle Airlines Adds New Nonstop Markets

NEW YORK - American Airlines continues to grow and enhance its New York service announcing today that its regional affiliate, American Eagle, will begin new routes to Montreal, Canada, from LaGuardia International Airport (LGA) and Pittsburgh from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on Dec. 13.

American Eagle will fly both new routes with Embraer 135 or an Embraer 140 jets, seating between 37 and 44 customers.

"We have more than an 80-year commitment to serving travelers to and from New York City," said Chuck Imhof, American's Vice President Passenger Sales -- Greater New York. "These new flights to Montreal and Pittsburgh give customers more choices as well as further strengthening our commitment to New York."

Montreal is a major metropolitan area and business center with more than 3.6 million residents. It is the second-largest French-speaking city in the Western world after Paris.

On December 13, American Eagle also begins nonstop service between Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and American Airlines new state-of-the-art terminal at JFK. American's commitment to New York equates to 248 daily departures from our New York airports to 61 nonstop destinations, 27 of which are international. And, there is much more to come. Already announced and starting Sept. 5, American will add service from New York LaGuardia to Minneapolis/St. Paul and from JFK to Las Vegas. That same day American Eagle begins service from LaGuardia to Louisville.

In November, American will begin flying nonstop to St. Lucia and St. Kitts/Nevis from JFK, while American Eagle will add service from LaGuardia to Flint, Mich. In December, a new flight from JFK to Orlando will be added, as will seasonal service between LaGuardia and West Palm Beach. American, the world's largest airline and a founding member of the global oneworld(R) Alliance, and American Eagle, combine to carry more than 16 million passengers each year to and from four New York-area airports (John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia, Newark, and White Plains/Westchester County) on more than 180,000 flights.
