Melbourne’s newest venue to host travel journalism awardsetbmice.com The prestigious Travel Journalism Awards for Excellence 2007 will this year be celebrated on an even higher level when Melbourne’s newest and most spectacular venue Sketch opens its doors to the travel industry.A highlight of the Australian Society of Travel Writers’ (ASTW) annual calendar, the Travel Journalism Awards for Excellence recognise and promote quality in travel journalism and are the pinnacle of achievement for the travel writing industry across Australia. Sketch is operated by the Atlantic Group[v], who has spared no expense in creating a venue with a rich décor of purple and black, complete with Milanese hand-blown glass and crystal chandeliers, soft textures and black marble floors and bars. With exceptional service and attention to detail, the Sketch experience will be second to none with menus that use only the finest and most exotic ingredients available and a wine selection found only in Melbourne’s top restaurants, including cellar door and museum wines. Over the past 10 years, the Atlantic Group[v] has built a reputation for sophisticated culinary experience and complete event management and the success of their venues at South Wharf has led to the group expanding and relocating to Central Pier (Docklands) - the most culturally significant waterfront development ever undertaken in Melbourne. Sketch is one of two new venues the Atlantic Group[v] are opening in the heritage-listed Shed 14 and is a high-end waterfront property boasting million-dollar views of the city and Bolte Bridge. President of the ASTW Marc Llewellyn is thrilled that the society’s most important night will be celebrated in such stunning surrounds. “This is the first year our journalism awards will be held in Melbourne and to have a venue as new and exclusive as Sketch as our host will definitely make for an amazing evening,” he said. Managing Director of Atlantic Group[v] Hatem Saleh is also delighted the ASTW has chosen Sketch as the venue for their prestigious awards dinner. “Sketch is Melbourne’s answer to society functions and to showcase it to Australia’s respected travel media and travel professionals in our opening month is a wonderful opportunity and we are looking forward to impressing with a level of class and sophistication no other venue can offer,” said Mr Saleh. Helen Wong’s Tours is the principle sponsor of the ASTW Travel Journalism Awards for Excellence 2007, which will be held on Saturday, 6th October 2007. |
