The president of the Turkish Hotelier Federation (TÜROFED), Ahmet Barut, said that a rise in Russian tourism this summer was a boon to Turkey’s travel industry.
While business was up this year, the industry must continue to target Western European tourists, Barut said.
“We are able to accommodate 30 million tourists as a result of the increase in bed capacity. Many Russian tourists travelled to Turkey this year, but we need to maintain our existing markets. We need to continue to work in such countries as Germany and the Netherlands. It is commercially not a good idea to get tied down with a single market.”
