According to head of international department of ICHHTO, a number of investors from Sweden have expressed their willingness to invest some 100 million dollars in Iran’s medical tourism.

Tehran – While prior to this tourism experts had lamented lack of foreign investment in Iran’s tourism industry due to lack of appropriate infrastructures, evidence shows the willingness of Swedish residents to invest 100 million dollars in Iran’s medical tourism.

Announcing this news, Mohammad Kazem Kholdi Nasab, director of international department of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), told CHN: “Despite previous beliefs, it seems the ground have been paved for European investment in Iran’s tourism industry. Two Swedish-Iranian medical doctors have announced their willingness to ICHHTO to invest in Iran’s health tourism industry.”

According to Kholdi Nasab, these two physicians have suggested to build pre-constructed dwelling houses with low price in appropriate places for starting the project of health tourism.

“These investors have asked Iran’s government to clarify how much it is ready to cooperate in this project. The proposal will be submitted to ICHHTO within one month and then we will hold a meeting with attendance of president of ICHHTO to study the case,” added director of international department of ICHHTO.

He further explained that they have suggested these two doctors to see about establishing big health tourism complexes in northern Iran and Taleghan near city of Qazvin.

Kholdi Nasab believes that with launching these centers, they would turn into the biggest health tourism centers in the Middle East.

Regarding Iran’s future programs to promote its medical tourism, Kholdi Nasab said: “We have also made some negotiations with a number of countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey and Spain in this regard.”
