Bulgaria has been chosen to host the general assembly of the World Association of Travel Agencies (WATA) in November 2007.
Tourism representatives from 40 countries will meet during the event, Dnevnik daily reported.
Bulgaria will host the assembly for the first time in 58 years. The theme of the 2007 conference will be the challenges facing WATA in view of the increasing number of tourism services.
Conference participants will also discuss the opportunity for Bulgaria to popularise itself as a tourism destination on the basis of its rich nature and history, not only as a destination for mass tourism.
State Agency for Tourism (SAT) representatives are expected to introduce Bulgarian tourism products.
Conference hosts plan to organise a trip to Bulgaria’s renowned Rila monastery, a wine tasting evening and Bulgarian folklore music performances.
