Dubai Holding launches mega tourism project in Morocco

Dubai World has launched a mega seaside tourism project here in Morocco at the New Coastal City. The project, which is estimated at about US$2 billion, was announced yesterday in a ceremony attended by the Moroccan Prime Minister, Idris Jattou and Minister of Tourism, Adil Douiri.
In a statement, Dubai World Chairman, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, said the UAE company was the major stakeholder in the project, which is a world class tourism facility estimated to cost about US$2 billion, according to initial study, adding that the project will cover about 514 hectres.
He pointed out that the involvement of the company in the project, reflects the strong relations of fraternity between the UAE and Morocco. He expressed the hope that the project would make a generous contribution to the launching of mega projects in Morocco.
Mazagan, as the project was named, will have the total capacity of 8,000 beds. The resort consists of variety of tourism amenities, including luxurious hotels, leisure and theme parks, as well as marine sports facility and golf courses. It will be also incorporate kids clubs for children and teens, fantastic pools, gardens and a lagoon area.
The resort’s conference centre will house a ballroom for up to 1,000 people, meeting rooms and a board room.
The construction of Mazagan will be in phases and is scheduled to be completed in 2009.
