Airline’s union lobbies governor for liquor sales

The head of the flight attendants’ union for U.S. Airways is asking Governor Richardson to exercise his influence on the state Regulation and Licensing Department.
The agency earlier this month stopped the airline from selling liquor on flights in and out of New Mexico.
The airline has been cited twice for selling alcohol to intoxicated people.
The president of the Association of Flight Attendants in Tempe, Arizona, Gary Richardson, says the state should extend U.S. Airways’ temporary liquor license.
He says flight attendants receive extensive training about serving alcohol responsibly.
A spokesman for the governor, Gilbert Gallegos, says the union should write the Regulation and Licensing Department and testify at license hearings.
