Yapta.com helps find cheap airline tickets

A new Web site and software program founded in Bellingham and launched today will provide help for travelers trying to find the best price on an airplane ticket.

Yapta will provide e-mail alerts for people who are looking for the lowest price on an airplane ticket, as well as providing information when an airline is offering a voucher or refund for already purchased tickets, said Brett Allsop, chairman and founder of the company.

Allsop said the company spent 15 months developing the software, which consumers can download free. The company is now headquartered in Seattle, but has offices in Bellingham.

“One thing that would drive me crazy is spending hours on airline Web sites trying and figure out the best time to buy a ticket,” Allsop said. “We believe this is a groundbreaking product that will give consumers an advantage when booking flights.”
