Minister of Tourism presides over two Tourism caravans to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia

Minister of Tourism Zuhair Garrana meets today in Kuwait with Salah El-Hejri Minister of Trade and Industry who supervises the Kuwaiti Tourism Sector, for discussion of means of tourist cooperation between the two countries and exchange of expertise in the field of tourist promotion and marketing.

Mr. Garrana will pay a visit to the Kuwaiti Chamber of Commerce and Industry where he confers with a number of senior businessmen of Kuwait for exploring means of attracting Kuwaiti tourism investments to Egypt and presentation of the investment incentives granted by Egypt to the investors, in the light of the fact that tourism projects executed in Egypt with Kuwaiti investments through Tourism Development Authority amounted 2.8 Billion Egyptian Pounds.

The Egyptian Minister will hold a press conference where he will promote the Egyptian Tourist Product and cast light on various Tourism components that feature Egypt and he will answer questions and inquiries by Kuwaiti Media and Press representatives.

It should be noted that incoming tourist movement from Kuwait in 2006 witnessed a remarkable increase as number of tourists amounted to around 120 thousand with an increase rate of 17% who spent almost 1.9 million tourist night with an increase rate over 25% compared with year 2005.

The Minister of Tourism Mr. Zuhair Garrana is currently paying a visit to Kuwait on top of a Tourism Caravan to raise awareness of the Egyptian Tourist Product and acknowledging the Kuwaiti Tourist requirements as well as interacting with tour operators at the aim of increasing numbers of incoming numbers of Kuwaiti tourists to Egypt.
The delegation accompanying Mr. Garrana comprises a number of tourism officials in Egypt and several sector leaders from governmental and private sectors in addition to media specialists.

The Egyptian Minister of Tourism is due to head to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia following Kuwait in a visit to the cities of Riyadh and Jeddah where he meets with HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saudi the Secretary General of the Tourism General Authority. Mr. Garrana will convene a meeting at the Saudi Chamber of Commerce with leading figures at Tourism and Travel, Omra and Hajj Agencies of Saudi Arabia. These meetings aim at discussing means of increasing number of Saudi tourists to Egypt in addition to arrangements and problems related to Omra and Hajj. By the end of the visit Mr. Garrana will hold a press conference with senior media and press personnel in Saudi Arabia.

It should be mentioned that Saudi tourism incoming to Egypt increased at a rate of 7.5% year 2006 where number of Saudi tourists amounted to 400 thousands who spent 2.3 million tourist nights with an increase rate of 5.3% compared with year 2005 and rated 6 of the list of countries exporting tourists to Egypt.
The Minister is accompanied in his visit to Saudi Arabia by Hassan Gamal Eddin Senior Undersecretary of Ministry of Tourism and a number of members of Board of Directors of Tourism Chambers Federation, Hotel Chamber and Private Sector.
