Sri Lanka's government-owned budget airline, Mihin Air, cancelled its maiden flight today due to technical problems, an official said.

The flight was due to depart for India’s southern city of Thiruvananthapuram from the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake. “The trip was canceled due to problems with the plane’s nose wheel,” officials said. Mihin Air is to announce its schedule of flights to the Indian subcontinent and Middle Eastern destinations. The airline’s start-up costs are estimated at 1.5 billion rupees.
