Airline links Damascus, Tehran and Caracas

gulf-times.com

An Iranian aircraft from Tehran took off from Damascus yesterday for the Venezuelan capital Caracas in a flight opening a new Teheran-Damascus-Caracas route.

Syria’s Sana news agency quoted Syrian Transport Minister Yarub Badr as saying the move “embodies co-operation between Syria, Venezuela and Iran, on one hand, and reduces the troubles Syrian, Arab and Muslim travellers in general encounter when landing in other transit airports, on the other.” Badr added that the project would contribute to enhancing contacts between Syrians and Lebanese living in Venezuela and their homeland and speed up implementation of points agreed during a meeting between Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez and his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad in Damascus. Badr said the flights would be weekly at the beginning.
