North India to promote Buddhist tourism at Berlin show

North Indian state Bihar will aggressively market Buddhist pilgrim sites at the five-day World Tourism Festival, to be hold in Berlin of Germany from March 7, Bihar tourism department said Saturday.


A four-member high-level delegation headed by Bihar Tourism Minister Nandkishore Yadav will leave for Germany on next Monday, the source said. "We are trying to woo foreign tourists from the European countries for the Buddhist circuits that already have good inflow of tourists from the Buddhist countries," Bihar State tourism secretary Anjani Kumar Singh said. The World Tourism Festival is offering great opportunity for an aggressive marketing at the international level, Singh said. The Bihar government will tie up with various foreign tourist agencies and tour operators to increase the tourist inflow from the Western countries, he said. A film on Buddha and Buddhist sites titled "Buddhism Spiritual Journey" will also be screened at the World Tourism Festival and its DVDs in English, Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Sinhala ( Sinhalese) languages will also be distributed free of cost at the tourism festival.
