Russia and Portugal to cooperate in tourism sphere

The sides hope that the new agreement will intrinsically influence formation of Russian and Portuguese image as interesting travel destinations for customers in the tourist sphere

In the framework of the session the two countries are planning to make an agreement on cooperation in the tourism sphere, which implies cooperation in the tourism product promotion, easement of visa formalities for tourists, salvation of the problems of professional tourism staff training. At the moment the tourist exchange between Russia and Portugal is around 7-8 thousand people per year. The quantity of tourists is generally influenced by air tickets` prices. Now there is only one airline, KrasAir, committing direct flights to the countries, and the influx of Russian tourists to Portugal and Portuguese tourists to Russia cannot be compared with such tourist direction as Spain. Besides, the activity of Portuguese tourist administration isn't high at the moment.
