Scotland hosts The Ryder Cup in 2014

In 2014, Gleneagles golf resort will be playing host to the 40th Ryder Cup, as it returns to Scotland- the ‘home of golf’

The tournament will run from the 23rd to the 28th of September, and is expected to attract in excess of 40,000 visitors each day. The 2014 Ryder Cup competition promises to be fierce between the European and American teams, as they battle for victory on the PGA centenary course, designed by Jack Nicklaus and recently renovated for the Ryder cup.

Gleneagles is located in the Perth and Kinross region also known as highland Perthshire, seen as the gateway to the Highlands.  The region offers a number of activities including walking, gorge walking, white water rafting, pony trekking and many more.  Places to visit and towns in Perthshire include Aberfeldy, Loch Tay, Auchterarder, Gleneagles Dunkeld and Perth.  Most of the region is little more than one hour by road or rail from Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Due to the thousands of visitors flocking to the area to watch the 2014 Ryder Cup, most of the hotel rooms are already fully booked.

Scotland is home to over 500 golf courses. With courses like the picturesque Gleneagles, Carnoustie (reputed to be one of the hardest golf links in the world), St Andrews old course, (recognised worldwide as the home of golf), and many other championship courses, Scotland is the perfect location for a golfing getaway. LovetoEscape.com offers a wide range of holiday accommodation for the 2014 Ryder Cup, from B&B’s to world famous golfing hotels, providing all the information for a golfing holiday.
