Airlines for America Applauds Further Advancement of Risk-Based Security Measures

Airlines for America (A4A) the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, applauded the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) plan to expand the TSA Pre✓™ program, allowing more domestic travelers to benefit from expedited security screening procedures. Later this year, U.S. citizens will be eligible to begin the Pre✓™ enrollment process online. Additionally, TSA will open enrollment centers at Dulles International Airport and Indianapolis International Airport, with more enrollment sites expected to be added nationwide

“As partners with the DHS and TSA, we are fully supportive of increased risk-based measures that enhance security and passenger screening efficiency – this is a welcome development for U.S. airlines and their passengers,” said A4A President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio. “Further expansion of the Pre✓™ program will enable more domestic travelers to benefit from expedited screening procedures, which is a key component in enhancing the overall travel experience.”
Annually, commercial aviation helps drive more than $1 trillion in U.S. economic activity and more than 10 million U.S. jobs. A4A airline members and their affiliates transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. airline passenger and cargo traffic. America needs a cohesive National Airline Policy that will support the integral role the nation’s airlines play in connecting people and goods globally, spur the nation’s economic growth and create more high-paying jobs.
