Mermaids Take to the High Seas

Mother’s Day, the ultimate accessory for Mom... a tail! Not just any tail, mind you, but a mermaid tail. That’s just part of the revitalizing transformation that’s in store for would-be mers who take part in Siren School’s new Mermaid Cruise. Departing Miami for the Bahamas, the three-day adventure is hosted on Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Sky ship.

In addition to all the luxuriously standard amenities afforded by all-inclusive travel, Siren School takes advantage of the downtime spent motoring across the ocean blue with a variety of activities designed to fully immerse participants in the world under the sea. Cultural instruction and indulgences include lore and language lessons, wearable craft sessions, and aquatic dance and movement classes—some with the ballyhooed tail, which is not as effortless to master as it looks.

Once in port, guests are invited to swim with dolphins, float among Atlantis’ ruins in their tail while being videographed, and of course, pose for a few impromptu mermaidy tail shots on the Bahamian beach. Those desiring to test their sea legs may opt to jump on a Waverunner, go parasailing, or snorkel around the wreckage of the Fancy, a ship that sunk in Stirrup Cay in 1696.

Evening’s are spent relaxing, dining together, enjoying the ship’s signature diversions, soaking in a steamy jacuzzi under the stars, and delighting in one another’s company, all in a nurturing and supportive environment of women sharing one of life’s more unique experiences. It’s a mother-daughter bonding opportunity like no other.
Prices start at $479 for the July 12-15 event, and just $299 for the Sept 20-23 slot. Siren School specializes in themed fantasy camps and glamour getaways for women and families. All are designed to liberate and transform participants, both inside and out.
