Las Vegas Monorail Carries 55 Millionth Passenger
The Las Vegas Monorail Company transported its 55 millionth rider today, with the lucky rider receiving a Las Vegas gift package including a weekend stay, souvenirs and tickets to iconic Las Vegas shows and attractions. Kelsey Spatz of Wausau, Wisconsin had the good fortune to be the 55 millionth rider through the fare gates this afternoon during a weekend trip with her mom, Michelle Spatz, and was greeted by a traditional showgirl and a showering of Las Vegas gifts.
"This marks another milestone for the Las Vegas Monorail," said Ingrid Reisman, vice president of corporate communications for the Las Vegas Monorail Company. "Since opening, we've continued to provide both tourists and locals a clean, safe and convenient way to navigate the traffic and crowds of the Las Vegas Strip. The 3.9-mile Las Vegas Monorail ranks among the best rail systems in the U.S. in terms of the number of riders carried per mile of track and revenue earned per mile. I'm excited to have welcomed our 55 millionth passengers."
The prize package the lucky passenger will receive will include:
A Las Vegas Strip by helicopter OR Grand Canyon Airplane Tour from Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters
2 Hours of Stretch Limousine Service from Presidential Limousine

For those visitors spending the long weekend in Las Vegas, and for those attending the MAGIC Market Week apparel show next week- the Las Vegas Monorail is the easiest and most hassle free way to travel between resorts and convention spaces. With seven separate stops between MGM Grand and the Sahara, we're close to everything. And with a variety of passes ranging from $12 to only $8 for 24 hours of unlimited rides, combined with trains leaving every 4-12 minutes, we're both inexpensive and convenient.
When asked why they chose the Monorail to navigate the Las Vegas Strip, Kelsey said, "It's cheap and fast- it's easy access to everywhere we go." Her mother, Michelle added, "It's something we've never tried before."
In 2012, the Monorail reduced greenhouse gas emissions by more than 23 tons and eliminated an estimated 1.9 million vehicle miles that would have otherwise congested Las Vegas roadways. In addition, during large conventions like CES, SEMA, NAB and World of Concrete, the Las Vegas Monorail carries an average of 60,000 people into and out of the Las Vegas Convention Center over the course of each four-day event.
