Israel popular running event


35,000 runners and 100,000 supporters and participants are expected to partake in the Tel-Aviv Gillette Marathon events this year, one of the most popular running events in Israel which will take place on Friday, March 15th 2013.

The Tel Aviv-Yafo municipality brands this multi-course marathon as an international sporting event, and as such, large parts of the city will be closed for the runners as is the tradition during the largest marathons worldwide. Runners will enjoy a unique urban route that takes them through Tel Aviv’s White City (A UNESCO World Heritage Site), along the iconic Tel Aviv boardwalk and past the city’s most attractive sites and streets including Dizengoff St, Rothschild Avenue, Azrieli Towers, Sharona community, Ramat Ha'Chayal area, Rabin Square, the Tachana, Habima Theater and more. 

The marathon will offer 7 different courses of varying difficulties, allowing thousands of runners of all ages to partake in the different heats. For the first time, runners are also able to run for a cause, selecting one of several registered charities named on the website. 

The marathon courses:
·      Full Marathon (42.195Km)
·      Half Marathon (21Km)
·      Urban Run (10Km)
·      10% Race (4.2Km)
·      30 km Hand Cycle Race for people with special needs
·      Children's Race (420M)
·      Inline skating Half-Marathon

A Marathon Expo will be located in Rabin Square, from Sunday 10th March through Wednesday 13 March, where runners will be able to collect their running kits
Registration fee: varying from 100NIS (4.2 km-10% race) and up to 240NIS for the full marathon heat, subject to the race and registration time.  A discount on early registration is available online up to 16 February 2013 and registration closes on 9 March.

This year, a Golden Registration Package offers runners an exclusive experience, including running shirt, medal and marathon memorabilia, as well as access to the pre-marathon pasta dinner on 14 March and to a closed VIP complex with refreshments, seating, massages and other luxury services (380 NIS for the 10k; 430 NIS for the half marathon and 480NIS for the full marathon).

Travel and accommodation for the marathon can be booked through specialist travel agents listed on the website (North and South America and Europe).
